Montreal Locomotive Works built hundreds of 1800 horsepower RS18 locomotives for Canadian railroads, primarily the CP and CN. The RS was a connotation of a road switcher locomotive. Most were built in the mid 50's to early 1960's. MLW's in house artist, Howard Fogg, has depicted a new CNR RS18 leading a freight somewhere in the snowy reaches of CN's Eastern Province lines. This was a painting presented by MLW to CNR upon them taking delivery of some new RS18 units. Winter scenes were favored by Fogg and MLW to depict the ruggedness of these fine new MLW products of the 1950's era.
With best wishes for the holidays and the coming year
